Halesworth & District Gardeners’ Society was formed in 1966
and currently has around 60 members.

The Society holds regular meetings on the second Thursday of the month between October and April in St. Mary’s Church Hall, Church Farm Lane, Halesworth (behind St. Mary’s Church) commencing at 7.30 pm (doors open at 7.15 pm).

Each meeting consists of a talk by a guest speaker, usually supported by demonstrations often with visual aids, on a wide variety of topics. Please see our “Programme of Events” page (also check our notice board outside Coopers in The Thoroughfare, Halesworth and our posters in various locations around the town). Alternatively a list can be obtained from a Committee Member. Each talk is followed by refreshments and raffle.

There is currently no entrance charge for members to our Thursday evening talks, but we do charge non-members £1.00 per visit. Refreshments are charged at a nominal sum. Our December Meeting is followed by a “bring a plate to share” Christmas buffet. Each September we hold our Annual Show where members exhibit their flowers and floral arrangements, plants, vegetables, bakery items and photography. A variety of cups are awarded.

This is a friendly show where the taking part is as important as the winning. Details are available from the Secretary.

If you have never shown before we will show you how.

There are 2 coach outings planned for the Summer. See “Programme of Events” for details.

We pride ourself on our friendly approach to all our activities and we encourage you to come along and see what our Society has to offer.
